This collection contains photographs of the construction at Central Soya in Decatur, Indiana in 1958. These photographs depict the various stages in the construction of buildings and storage facilities. MacLean Photo Service in Decatur, Indiana originally took the photographs. This company also numbered and dated the photographs wehen they were taken. Photographs of Central Soya are arranged by the dates on the back. Also within the collection is one picture without a date, on the back side of this picture is written, "Shafer and Schurst Co., Ft. Wayne, Decatur Herald and Review ." This photograph is at the end of the collection.

Central Soya Company, Incorporated was founded in 1934 by Dale W. McMillen. The first Central Soya processing plant was built in Decatur, Indiana. Central Soya has a reputation as a pioneer in technology because of those early years. The company has continued to grow and currently has eleven production facilities, nine in the United States and two in Europe. Central Soya constructed new facilities for storage in Decature, Indiana in 1958.
