Summary:

This collection includes two handwritten documents. One is a brief biographical note on Isaac Roach, including his rank in the U.S. army and his job as the mayor of Philadelphia. The second document is a letter from Isaac Roach to George C. Snyder while Roach was still in the army and stationed at Governor's Island.

Biographical or Historical Data:	Isaac Roach was born in 1786 and served during the War of 1812 as a major in the United States Army until he retired in 1824. In 1838, he was elected mayor of Philadelphia and served in a variety of government offices, including the Board of Health and the United States Mint, until his death on December 30, 1848 at the age of 63.
