Indiana Library Association letters 1891.

Summary:

The two letters in this collection were written by M. Eileen Ahern, the Assistant State Librarian, to Arthur Cunningham in Terre Haute. In the December 2, 1891, letter, she tells Mr. Cunningham about attending the American Library Association meeting in California, and her hopes that Indiana libraries will organize so they can exchange books between libraries. She suggested a gathering on December 30 at the State Library.Her second letter, December 16, 1891, reports to Mr. Cunningham that she is disappointed in the lack of response to her 30 letters; only six librarians replied. She wrote: "I fear the association will not be forthcoming."
