This collection includes a scrapbook, an envelope of cancelled checks, and six handwritten notes from the Woman's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU) ranging from 1885 to 1892. The scrapbook contains newspaper clippings related to the temperance movement as well as handwritten minutes for various meetings held by the WCTU. The notes relate to insurance payments to the fire company as well as lists of different office expenses.

Biographical or Historical Data:
The Women⁰́₉s Christian Temperance Union was formed to abolish the traffic and consumption of alcohol and liquor. The members heavily relied on prayer, persuasion, witnessing and propaganda. This group first appeared in Indiana in March of 1874 and maintained a strong presence in Indianapolis for the next several decades. Source: David J. Bodenhamer and Robert G.
