This collection includes a typed, carbon copy of a paper delivered to the Vincennes Rotary Club on December 11, 1915 from Harry T. Watts in Vincennes, Knox County, Indiana regarding the early settlement of Knox County and land claims.

Biographical or Historical Data:
Harry Temple Watts was born to John C. and Helen A. Watts in Iowa around 1875 or 1876. He had an older brother, Edwin E. In 1910, he worked as a civil engineer and was a widower. During World War I, Watts served in the 159th Indiana Infantry, Company L as a sergeant from April 17, 1917 to August 16, 1917, when he was discharged due to disability. He married Florence E. Goold on November 10, 1917 in Chicago, Illinois and they lived in Vincennes, Indiana, where he served as a city engineer. The couple had one child, Harry Temple Watts, Jr. in 1920.
