This collection includes two copies of Frank L. Hiatt's manuscript, "We Who Served", in print and on a CD-R sound disc. Compiled in 2008, the family military history was created to honor and remember those of Hiatt's extended family who served the United States in all the branches of the military during the Civil War, World War I, World War II, the Iraq War, and during peace time. Hiatt's manuscript contains copies of certificates, correspondence, military documents, news articles, personal narratives, photographs, and documents about military battles and military regiments. The collection also includes biographical information and photographs of Dolores Bedoy Hiatt's father and her uncles who were veterans of the Mexican Revolution.

Biographical or Historical Data:
Frank Leakey Hiatt was born on May 20, 1928 in New Castle, Indiana to Wilbur and Dorothy Hiatt. He entered the Marine Corps in June, 1945 at the end of World War II and was in active service until he was honorably discharged in October, 1946. Hiatt worked in the construction business and was the owner of General Steel Fabricating and General Steel Erectors. He married Dolores Bedoy (1929-1990) on November 22, 1952 and they had six children. He passed away in Indianapolis at the age of 82 on September 26, 2010.Sources:Information within collection.
