This collection contains Purdue Musical Organizations (PMO) documents and photographs ranging from 1977 to 1978 regarding the Varsity Glee Club of Purdue University. The documents include a performance news release and three "backgrounders" about the conductor William E. Luhman, accompanist William E. Allen, and the history of the club. The collection has photographs of the Purdue Varsity Glee Club; Jeff Cherry and Doug Shelton; Derrick Williams; Jim Hubert; William E. Luhman; William E. Allen; and the "Ba-Na-Na" quartet. Also included is an Eva-Tone Soundsheets flexi sound disc.

Biographical or Historical Data:
The Purdue Varsity Glee Club was founded in 1893 and began with eleven students. Albert Stewart became the club's first full time director in 1932 and led the group for more than 40 years. Under his leadership, the club increased to 60 members and gave performances across the United States and internationally. The musical troupe offers a variety of music including classics, gospel, folk songs, contemporary hits, and novelty tunes. After more than 115 years, the young men of the Varsity Glee Club continue to entertain audiences and serve as goodwill ambassadors for Purdue University. Sources: Information within collection.
