Summary, etc.:
This collection includes two copies of "Reminiscences of Mrs. Margaret A. Perry". The ten page manuscript was created from shorthand notes taken down during an interview with Mrs. Perry on March 9, 1932. Mrs. Perry related her experiences growing up on her foster parents prosperous farm in Rush County, Indiana and described many of the daily activities on the farm, including making corn pone, Johnny cakes, and candles and helping with the harvesting. She also mentioned her first marriage, her work as a nurse, and her marriage to her second husband, Clark Perry. Of special note is Mrs. Perry's disclosure that her foster father, Mr. Duncan, was an abolitionist and his house was part of the underground railroad.
