Biographical or Historical Data:
Mary Eleanora (Nora) Farquhar, the daughter of John Hanson and Fannie M. Farquahar, was born about 1859 and opened a kindergarten in the Girls Classical School in Indianapolis, Indiana on September 13, 1882. She married Judge Eugene Gano Hay, of New Jersey, on November 5, 1891, and they moved to Montclair, New Jersey, living in other states through the years. She died on April 12, 1940 and is buried in Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana. Her sister, Caroline (Carrie) Farquhar, born about 1871, also taught kindergarten at the Girls Classical School from 1892-1893 and was an actress with the Dramatic Club. She later married Seixas [?] and moved to either Seattle, Washington or Portland, Oregon. She died on December 11, 1936 in Seattle, Washington and is buried in Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana.Information found within the collection."Farquhar, Carrie". 1880 United States Federal Census.
