This collection includes items collected by Hazel Warren including a letter and wooden artist palette with wood inlays and poem from Placidus Kempf, O.S.B. in Saint Meinrad, Indiana, dated October 6, 1934, regarding his poem, "The Painter"; a letter from Bertha E. Dunham, from July 31, 1930, regarding the matter of a late order for dune prints; and a 6-page narrative entitled, "Index of the Pictures of the Swiss Colony at Vevay, Indiana" dated April 1924.

Biographical or Historical Data:
Hazel Beatrice Warren was born on November 19, 1891 in Indiana to Oliver Grant and Effie J. (Dresslar) Warren. She attended Butler University, graduating in 1917, and in 1920 was employed as assistant cataloger at the Indiana State Library. By 1930, Warren had been promoted to chief executive at the Indiana State Library. Correspondence included in the collection indicates that Warren was a friend of Indiana author Placidus Kempf (1895-1978) of Saint Meinrad, Spencer County, Indiana. Warren died in November 1966.
