Madge Rutherford Minton (1920-2004) was born Madge Rutherford in Greensburg, Indiana and raised in St. Paul, Indiana. She was a 1941 graduate of Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. Minton earned her pilot's license through the Avanced Civilian Pilot Training Program and served in the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP), Class of 43-W-4 during World War II. In addition, Minton was a biologist and co-authored several books on herpetology with her husband, Dr. Sherman Minton, who was an assistant professor of microbiology and immunology at the Indiana University Medical School. Madge Rutherford Minton passed away on November 7, 2004 at the age of 84 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
