|Biographical or Historical Data:|| Ambrose Stanton was born on February 15, 1834, in Fayette County, Indiana. He served as an Indianapolis city councilman (1867-1869) and Speaker of the State House of Representatives (1869). Stanton was also a member of the Marion County Board of Education, the state Board of Education, and the Indianapolis Art Association. He died on May 25, 1912.
