Biographical or Historical Data: | Frederick E. Schortemeier was born on March 25, 1889, in Shelbyville, Indiana. He worked as a reporter for the Indianapolis Star from 1908 to 1917 and was admitted to the bar in 1915. Schortemeier served as private secretary to U.S. Senator Harry S. New (1917-1919); secretary of the Republican State Committee of Indiana (1920-1924); and Indiana Secretary of State (1924-1928). He died on June 18, 1965. |
