|Summary, etc.:|| The collection contains a transcript of a tape created by Chris Black, Lew Wallace High School, of a talk given by Ridgely in 1955. Ridgely tells how he came to settle in Gary, Indiana, and describes his early experiences in the city.

|Biographical or Historical Data:|| Claude Vernon Ridgely was born on January 29, 1881, in Illinois. Ridgely and his family moved to Gary, Indiana, in 1906. He practiced law in Gary before becoming judge of the Lake County Superior Court. He died on September 11, 1963.
