There are two folders in the collection. The first contains mostly letters from John C. Hill. The correspondence took place from 1862-1867. The second folder contains letters from H. O. Whiting to James M. Whiting though the content of the letters addresses family members including his mother. From these letters, it may be assumed that James M. Whiting is H. O. Whiting's father.
