Biographical or Historical Data:	Butler University is a private liberal arts school located in Indianapolis, Indiana. Founded in 1855 as North Western Christian University, it was the third university in the country to admit women on an equal basis with men. In 1877, the name of the school was changed to Butler University to honor Ovid Butler, a local attorney and abolitionist and the founder of the university. Sources: Butler University.
