The collection includes photocopied diaries kept by Barnett of Union Township, Fulton County (Jan.-Dec. 1861 and May 1863-Nov. 1870). The diaries tell of daily activities, weather, visitors, meetings attended, health and death of family and neighbors, elections, the Civil War, Morgan's Raid, Butternuts, economic conditions, and church activities.
