From the series A NIGHT AT THE MOVIES. This series from Warner Brothers recreates the experience of actually going to the movies (circa 1955) by having a cartoon at the beginning followed by news clips, previews of coming attractions, and finally the feature film, all on the same videocassette. "Speedy Gonzales" is the cartoon. It has voice characterizations by Mel Blanc and won the Academy Award for the Best Cartoon Short Subject. Commentator Peter Roberts narrates four Hearst Metronome "News of the Day" series shorts. They include: "U.S. Fleet Guards Formosa as Reds Seize Outpost," "First Sound Films of Presidential Press Conference," "Headlines in the News---Floods Sweep France, New Job for Nixon," and "Sport Topics of the Day---European Stars in Ski Thriller." The coming attractions segment features the films "Mr. Roberts" and "East of Eden." The feature film is "Battle Cry," a drama of Marine Corps camaraderie and heroism starring Van Heflin and Aldo Ray.
