In First, catch a tiger (directed by Ida Lupino), Paladin must discover a killer's identity before the killer eliminates him. In Lady on a stage door, Paladin encounters racial prejudice on a stagecoach. In Ambush (directed by Richard Boone), Paladin and his prisoner are forced to wait in an isolated ferry terminal, where each captive believes that his worst enemy is paying to have him detained. In The trap, Paladin is confronted by an aging marshall, who has arrested a man for murder although none has been committed.
