|General Note:|| "A genealogy"--Cover Page
|Summary, etc.:|| This is a genealogy of one of the Clifton families that lived on the Delmarva Peninsula (Delaware/Maryland/Virginia) from the 1600s through the 1800s. This work is the culmination of 2 decades of work by Ruth Clifton and was assembled into its present form by her son Jud following her death in 2002. The earliest possible ancestor in the book is Thomas Clifton whom she located in the Barbados in the 1650s. Thomas migrated from there to the Cape Fear Colony in North Carolina and thence to Mayland, and his descendants into what is now Delaware. The work follows the westward movement of the family to Indiana (including Union Township in Marshall County, Indiana), Iowa, and Minnesota. The work includes wills, land titles, descendants charts, and some photographs. It was completed in 2003.
