The child's child : a novel

Summary: When their grandmother dies, Grace and Andrew Easton inherit her sprawling, book-filled London home, Dinmont House. Rather than sell it, the siblings move in together--an unusual arrangement, but ideal for the affectionate pair--until the day Andrew brings home a new boyfriend: novelist James Derain. James's strident comments about Grace's doctoral thesis soon puncture the house's idyllic atmosphere, as does his and Grace's brief fling. When James and Andrew witness a friend's murder outside a London nightclub, James begins to unravel. Grace, having newly discovered that she's pregnant, mentally flees the house's turmoil by throwing herself into the reading of of a long-lost novel, The Child's Child, whose plot mirrors her own life in Dinmont House.
